Soiled Iron
A downloadable game
It is the 80s – sometime around 4000BC. Two new inventions offer a new career opportunity for muscular long haired uneducated blokes with a crown shaped birthmark (besides propelling a treadmill or lugging stones in a quarry). With iron swords and skimpy underwear you now can become a barbarian warrior, compete in pit fights or collect the riches and spoils of dungeons and palaces.
Soiled Iron is a classic two-opponent sword fighting game. It offers a quest mode and a one-on-one fighting experience.
It is compatible with PAL and NTSC, and should work with all hardware and emulation C64 variants.
There are two options to load the game. A disk image offers an intro and a fast loader but requires an actual 1541 or true drive emulation. As an alternative you get two individual prg files for the two game modes. These can optionally be loaded from e.g. tape, sd2iec or USB stick on various emulators.
Keyboard Controls:
- F1 to F8 : change colours
- M : toggle music on/off
- Stop : restart game
Quest mode:
- P : show auto-map
- Space : drink healing potion
One on one mode:
- D : demo
- V : player versus player (two joysticks)
- T : training against defending AI
- C : challenge against ever faster and smarter AIs
- 1 .. 9 : fight against various levels of AI

Nice game !
pros: -nice big sprites with moves from barbarian
cons: -awfully repetitive & gets boring fast
-the "wind" sound & the samey 2nd floor graphics
needs more time in the oven. 5/10

WOW! Unbelievable. A wonderful tribute to Barbarian, thankfully without heads flying off - that used to make me sick :). Nice graphics, attention to detail and implementation. As usual great music by Crisps. Most definitely something pretty memorable Well done.

It looks great and I would like to try the demo but it won't run on my OLD NTSC😥
The disk version may not run on all C64, it has a fast loader integrated and may fail with a patched ROM on either C64 or 1541 - you can try the single load .prg s
