Comchinko
A downloadable game
Too old to keep up with fast shooters? Too bored to replay the same type of reskinned flip screen platformer over and over again? Can’t be bothered to read a six page manual? Too AI degraded to solve puzzle games or struck down by tendonitis by jerking your joystick too hard.
Comchinko may be just the right game for you. Just push a button to let your balls drop and see chaos ensue and numbers go up – or just sit there and see the balls drop all by themselves if even this is to much bother.
Basic controls:
Joystick button or [space] to drop the ball
Joystick up or [stop] to end the game
Joystick down or [return] to open the achievements
Joystick left/right change feeder direction
Joystick direction or cursor keys to select an upgrade
The game has three modes:
Infinite let’s you play without limits until your C64 runs out of bits to record your score
Highscore modes challenge you with limited number of balls or minutes
Achievement mode offers more than 100 different achievements to collect, with more achievements granting you more balls in the next round.
Game mode and disk drive are selected on the intro screen.
Use left/right to select the drive for the highscore / achievements and the button to load the file. Highscores and achievements will be saved when a drive is selected and a game ends.
Colored balls and pegs have special effects when colliding:
Blue : duplicate ball
Yellow : increase ball value
Orange : bump pocket bonus multiplier
Purple : increase pocket value
Green : increase global bonus multiplier
Destroyed pegs can become stars for a short time. Stars have a disproportionate effect on the score achieved and are thus the ultimate in pushing the numbers up.
The game was developed for PAL C64 but has been tested on NTSC models as well.
