I played a serious round of overload for the first time today. Played a full hour, but only made it to 015xxxxxxxx energy. Still proud of my achievement.
The progress is slow at first, but when auto loading and firing kick in, is when the real fun starts. Trying to manage cooling, earning, dumping, buffing and expanding to reach your goal is a lot of fun. I was blasting a ton of lasers, a pool of cooling fans and all sorts of gizmos to maximize energy output. My energy yield buff was up to 19K but I didn't make it. Makes me wonder what else I can do.
This game has a lot of depth and I like it. Well done. And thank you for making it.

Would a german version of the game be possible, additionally? "Overload" contains a lot of text and technical terms, that are sometimes not so easy to remember in english, when it's not your native language. A german version would be much easier for german speakers, and there are alot of them in the C64 scene. I ask this, because I know that you, the author of this game, are also german (otherwise I would not ask).

Thanks for no response at all.  :-)

Sorry there, I am already in two new projects, I will release the sources at one point, so you can customize it to your liking.

Okay. I hope, I can find german words for all specific terms, that appear in the game. With a dictionary, I should be able to manage it. *lol*

A good and addictive game. I added it to my video among other games released in December.

Great game!  I've already played it twice, and looking forward to another round.    Unfortunately it crashes at the end...  I tried on an original C64 plus on the C64 Ultimate, and same issue, crashed at end.

By the way, the dual SID sound of Missile Defense was amazing, please add dual SID's for future games (I know you mentioned in a post that it was not mentioned, but indeed a lot of us noticed the dual SID and appreciate it!!) I do have 2 physical SID's, but I do not think my mod is causing the crash, I've not had issues in the past, but mention it just in case...

Version 1.1 that fixes this is already uploaded.

Thank you, just confirmed, it works. I have both files saved and could not tell which was 1.1 and which was 1.0, no way to know when you start the game...  But all good, works. Thank you!

The v1.1 has a version indicator on the intro screen.

Sounds good, I missed it, but noted for next time. Thank you!

Really a very interesting game! I played it yesterday for around 2 hours and definately like it.

And i have a question. Would it be possible, to release a german version of the game too? Normally I have no problems with English, but here I am asking this, because this game contains quite a few technically complex words, that have something to do with the reactor and you sometimes have to look up, during the gameplay, what something means in your native language and translate it, to avoid making a mistake, when firing up the reactor (at least that's what my buddy and I had to do yesterday, while playing). My native language is German and I know, that you are german too, therefore I also ask, because I know, it would be not difficult for you.

Also great would be, if there was a way, to save the progress in a running "Overload" game and continue this game later, for example if it were possible, to cache data on disk. You don't always have an hour to play at a time and then this would be a nice thing.

Best regards and Merry Christmas.

What a fantastic game. Quite addicting, the shop and tech system is fun! I only can recommend it to everyone to try it out :)

Great music!

I liked the game, but it crashed when the time ran out. I saved a snapshot in Vice, if you are interested.

Version 1.1. with fix for the end dialog is uploaded, please give it a try.

Thanks for the fix. It works now both on win and lose.

very good

Are you actually saying that an incremental clicker does not equal suffering? :D Just kidding, nice to see another C64 release from you!

Thank you and Merry Xmas! :-) Overload (2025, drmortalwombat)

I was literally thinking of creating an incremental C64 game yesterday! Oo looking forward to trying it! Merry Christmas Mr Wombat :D
